Due to heavy rains on the previous night, huge amount of debris and boulder hit the highway in Pagalnala, Lambagarh and Kanchanganga at around 2 pm, due to which the movement of vehicles stopped on Sunday morning. The movement of vehicles from JCB machines started at 9 o’clock, but at eleven o’clock in the afternoon, traffic came to a standstill as Boulder came on the highway. Here at 3 o’clock in the afternoon the highway could be smooth. But then the highway got blocked due to debris in Lambagad at 3.30 pm. Traffic was disrupted at different places on the highway throughout the day.

Badrinath-Gangotri highway disrupted

Eight rural motorways are blocked due to rain in Tehri. At the same time, the Badrinath-Gangotri highway is also getting blocked near Totaghati. The movement of villagers is being blocked due to the closure of roads. Large vehicles have not been able to travel near Totaghati for more than a week. At the same time, eight rural motorways including the districts Gaja-Manada, Narendranagar-Neer, Fakot-Katakot have been disrupted by the rain. Due to this, the villagers are facing problems in traffic.

Food is not able to reach these villages. Apart from this, huge amount of debris came on the Thal-Munsari road on Friday night.

Public works department team restored the traffic by removing debris at ten in the morning. Tawaghat-Darma and Bangapani-Baram road in Dharchula have been opened up to Mori village. In Bageshwar district, more than eight thousand population is affected due to the closure of eight roads. Continuation of debris on the roads continues in Chamoli district. Five hours of traffic was disrupted on the Badrinath highway on Saturday. However, traffic on the Gangotri and Yamunotri highway is smooth.
