Government’s gift to the army: soldiers who have served less than 10 years will also get pension

The Ministry of Defense on Wednesday allowed infirm pension for Armed Forces personnel serving less than 10 years. Till now, this pension was given only to those personnel of the Armed Forces who have served for more than 10 years and have become disabled due to reasons which are not associated with military service.

If a soldier had served less than 10 years at the time of incapacitation, till now he was paid only the disabled gratuity. The ministry said on Wednesday, “The government has also decided to give disabled pension to the armed forces personnel serving less than 10 years.”

It states that a person of the armed force, who has served less than 10 years and who has become incapacitated due to any physical or mental weakness and who has no relation with military service and due to which Permanently removed from military services and civil reappointment, they will benefit from this decision.

The ministry said, “The proposal has been approved by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. This decision will benefit those armed forces personnel who were in service on or after January 4, 2019.
