Jugaad is something that every Indian on the face of the earth is familiar with as a video that surfaced on Twitter lately will explain the deal clearly. Supriya Sahu IAS shared the short clip on social media and it shows a man sterilizing vegetables using steam from a pressure cooker in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
In the clip, the man put a pressure cooker on the gas stove and instead of putting the whistle on the lid, he placed a small pipe. As steam gushed out of the cooker and through the pipe, the man directed the pipe towards a plate of vegetables in order to sterilize them.
“Look at the great Indian jugaad to sterilize vegetables. The efficacy of this methodology cannot be certified by me however, India never fails to amaze. Incredible India,” Supriya Sahu said in the caption of her post.
The video has gone crazy viral with over 87,000 views and 6,000 likes. However, the internet was divided over the technique used by the man to sterilize vegetables. Several users said that it is a “brilliant” method but some added that the steam arising from the cooker could cause burns.
“Extremely dangerous. Fooling around with pressure cookers This sort of jugaad could get a person killed,” a user said.
