235 flats are being built under PM Awas Yojana in Barkhapur of the city. These houses are meant for those middle class people who could not make their homes in the city due to inflation or other reasons. However, the Rae Bareli Development Authority started functioning from its level. But, the government did not even get a single penny. The beneficiary’s share of funds has also not yet gone to the executive body. If it goes on like this, it will not take much time to die this plan surrounded by budget crisis.
The scheme was announced in 2015 to provide luxurious housing to middle class people in low capital. It took two years until the orders came and the project was prepared and sent. The government’s proposal of the scheme reached in the year 2017. A year later, the project was cleared in 2018. However, the government intended to build 500 flats. However, the demand here was only 235 houses. This made the plan smaller. Subsequently, in January 2020, the Development Authority started construction in Barkhapur area of the city. However, it could not gain momentum. Work was stopped due to Holi and then lockdown.
Two and a half lakh subsidy to be provided at every house
The cost of a house is coming to around six and a half lakh rupees. According to the plan, two and a half lakh rupees will get subsidy from the government. In which the state government will give one and a half lakh centers. While the allottee has to deposit two lakh rupees. The remaining amount is to be invested by RDA. But till now neither subsidy nor allottees’ money came. Due to which the plan seems to be falling into disarray.
Housing to be built in three blocks
The 235 houses being constructed in Barkhapur will be in three blocks. The work of two of these blocks has reached the ground floor. While foundation work is going on in the third block. Officials say that if everything goes well, the work of this block will also reach the ground level till Rakshabandhan.
Planning work has been started by RDA from its level. So that, the construction can be completed on time. There is a continuous correspondence for the budget.
