How to convert a category into the tag?

WordPress provides you an option to change category into tag and tag into a category. For this, you need to install Categories and Tags Converter from Import option under Tools section.

To convert a category into a tag in WordPress, you can follow these steps:

  1. Login to your WordPress Dashboard: Access the admin area of your WordPress website.
  2. Navigate to Categories: Go to the “Posts” menu and click on “Categories” to access the category management page.
  3. Edit the Category: Find the category you want to convert into a tag and hover over it. You’ll see options to “Edit” or “Quick Edit.” Click on “Edit.”
  4. Change the Category to a Tag: In the category edit screen, you’ll see a field called “Slug.” Change the slug to the desired tag name. This effectively converts the category into a tag.
